Anonymous asked: I get the impression that Sette isn't terribly popular back home, even for a place where anyone might randomly get set upon by thugs? Good job on her part walking away from that with only a shiner, but she could use some proper training on how to fight.

unsoundedcomic:

I don’t know, I think she did okay in that fight. She took the guy down with the chain, but was distracted by the two goons escaping with her money for long enough to presumably get a club to the skull, all while their girlfriends were laughing and calling her every foul name under the sun.

But she could use some lessons, definitely. She tries to fight like the guys around her fight but she doesn’t have the size or strength for it. Maybe she’ll level up as we go along.

Sette isn’t distracted, she’s just keeping her eye on the cash in the instant before swinging that chain around and branding sluggo’s face with the Frummagem seal of disapproval.

Unsounded updates have resumed as of today with the cover page of chapter 9! Check it out here~~

This cover is something of a complement to the cover of Chapter 7. Both are prequel images of our protagonists’ lives back in Sharteshane - lives we don’t really know much about since we met Duane and Sette after they’d already left town.

Part 5: Comics-Prose with ‘Small Shen’ (2011-2012

In 2010, I was winding down in terms of illustrating for…

.

The “comics prose” idea seems like a promising angle for certain kinds of stories and creators. I hope to see more of that.

Happy Birthday Harry Houdini! Did you know that Mr. Houdini was a fan of the Library? On August 31, 1911 the acclaimed magician sent NYPL’s first president John Shaw Billings a letter offering two bound sets of The Conjurer’s Magazine, two books on handcuffs published in Russia and Germany, and his assistance on the subject of “Magic and Mystery” should the Library need it.
Today the Library has the archive of the Society of American Magicians, of which Harry Houdini was President. Now everyone can have his assistance on the subject of magic and mystery!

This was a “multi-media” set  from 2003 containing two CDs along with a paperback script with 74 illustrations (plus cover) by me. The marketing of this set spotlighted the audio - a reading as a “radio play” - but the real treasure is Kerouac’s incredible, richly imaginative screenplay, filled genre characters from his childhood, such as vampires, evil wizards and the Shadow-like Dr. Sax.

.

This must be where that opening sample on The Forgetters’ song came from.
