Today’s the day! My first ever self-published work with my good buddy Orrin Grey. The perfect gift for any discerning individual who likes spooky things this time of year.
In this 32-page chapbook, you’ll find 13 ominous domiciles, each with a suitably haunted history, including tales of witchcraft, hidden fortunes, accusations of vampirism, demonic portraits, a haunted chair, and several experiments of a “most unusual nature.” Pictures by M. S. Corley, words by Orrin Grey.

A shift in rendering quality for emphasis

Rendered art is a gorgeous sight to behold. Your eyes (at least, my eyes) get all gooey and detail-happy and it gives an otherwise nice illustration an extra boost.

Arzach by Jean “Moebius” Giraud, page 33-34. EYEGASM!

In comics, however, this kind of rendering can not only be extremely exhausting for the artist, it can also be exhausting for the reader! Too much rendering all the time can oversaturate our brain’s capacity to notice differences in detail.

Why do we want our readers to notice changes in detail? Well, an artistic upgrade can help put an extra ‘oomf’ to an otherwise OK panel when something important is happening. Let me elaborate.

The Anatomy of a Lolita
This took forever to finish because I was not happy with the diagram. I wanted to draw something that wasn’t too outdated (like many currently available online). I wanted a diagram that reflects a basic co-ordinate relevant to today’s standards.
If you are a new lolita, please use this as a check list to creating your your first outfit. Never EVER forget your petticoat!

Dororo is being crowdfunded for a stream release with subtitles for the very first time! This is one of the classic series produced by Mushi Production which started anime as a whole beginning with Astro Boy in 1963. Dororo was released in 1969 as the last black and white anime and the first title from the World Masterpiece Theater staple.

Here are a few reasons why you should definitely pledge (all money is sent only if the goal is reached):

  • One of Osamu Tezuka’s best anime.
  • From an all-star crew of anime makers. (Gisaburô Sugii, Yoshiyuki Tomino, Osamu Dezaki, Noboru Ishiguro, Isao Tomita, etc.)
  • Based on one of Tezuka’s best manga which was adapted into a cult video game and popular movie.
  • It’ll have a chance at a DVD release later if popular enough.
  • Ensuring at least a few series are successful will keep Anime Sols afloat and all the classic shows they are giving a chance to.
  • For fans of classic anime, this would be the oldest TV anime ever to get a subtitled release.

Dororo is being crowdfunded — I love this series. Its diabolically catchy theme song alone makes it worth funding.
